Scripture leaves us with no doubt about God being a long-range planner; He can determine a whole series of events to come to maturity in his own good time. In fact, He has done this for the benefit of us all, planning, even before the beginning of the world, for us to become brothers and sisters of Jesus. On the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, let’s thank God for planning to bring us into his family.
+ Father, we thank you and we praise you for preparing the Virgin Mary to be the worthy mother of your Son.
You let her share beforehand in the salvation Christ would bring by his death, and kept her sinless from the first moment of her conception.
Help us by her prayers to live in your presence without sin. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.+
Please join us in person or online to celebrate this important feast day that recognizes the singular privilege granted by God to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the only human preserved from all stain of original sin.
