Extraordinary Ministers of Eucharist to the Sick
Ministers of Care bring Holy Communion to parishioners who are homebound, living in nursing homes, or in the hospital. They share with them the word of God in scripture, pray with them for the Church and the world, and offer them companionship. Through the Ministry of Care, we are able to keep long-time OLPH parishioners connected and active in our faith community. The work of the Ministry of Care is open to all members of our parish community.
Training Session Begins Soon
A basic training course for new Ministers of Care will begin on Wednesday, September 26. The training occurs on five successive Wednesday evenings. Each session will focus on an aspect of the Ministry of Care; however, the unifying thread woven through is a commitment to helping develop the skills and confidence needed to be a source of comfort to those who are sick. Each weekly session will last two hours and will be facilitated by Rick Nash and retired priests who live at Presence St. Benedict Home in Niles. Completion of this course qualifies you to receive the Archdiocesan mandate to bring Communion to the sick, homebound and hospitalized of our parish.

Or, if you, a family member, or someone you know is homebound, unable to attend Mass, and would like to receive Holy Communion, OLPH Ministers of Care are available to bring Holy Communion.
