Chrism Mass at Holy Name Cathedral

During Holy Week, parishioners Bob and Penny Pirsein represented Our Lady of Perpetual Help at the Chrism Mass at Holy Name Cathedral. It is a beautiful liturgy in which the Cardinal consecrates the oils that will be used to anoint the sick, the catechumens, the newly confirmed, the newly baptized and newly ordained priests and bishops. It is the one time a year that a priest should concelebrate with their bishop. At the Chrism Mass the priests renew the promises they made at their ordination. The day begins with prayer, a reflection by the Cardinal and confession. As representatives of our parish, the Pirseins brought the consecrated oils back to our Church for use during the Easter Vigil and throughout the coming year.
