The Splendor of Byzantine Art

About the Presentation: Art historian Dr. Michelle Mishur will offer a slide presentation featuring artifacts from the recent exhibit hosted by the Art Institute that featured icons, mosaics,and an early copy of the New Testament, plus pagan statues “converted” to Christian saints.
Michelle will explore the historic and spiritual value of these items. She will discuss symbolism, media and how many of these objects were used in the Byzantine tradition.

About the Speaker: Michelle Paluch Mishur, Ph.D. with her husband , fellow art historian, Jeff Mishur, is co-owner and operator of Art Excursions, Inc.. She is an art historian, univeristy professor, designer and leads guided tours focusing on art, achitecture, natural and cultural treasures.
