Within his visual presentation, art historian Jeff Mishur discusses the impact Luther and the Protestant movement had on the history of art. From the destruction of works of art (iconoclasm) during a time of religious turmoil to the impact of the Reformation and Counter Reformation on art throughout Europe, this program promises to offer insight into a remarkable moment in history. Changes in financial sponsorship and theological premises led to new subject themes and new schools of artists and broadened the scope of artistic exploration and interpretation.
