Serving approximately 1,000 households per month, 2,050 individuals, and 260 homeless. Many are seniors in need.

St. Sabina Parish

Serving 2,100 individuals per month; 15% of those who visit are homeless and one third are working families who cannot make it on marginal incomes. They also serve many seniors and young mothers and children.

St. Philip Neri

Serving more than 2,000 people per month on the South Side, including a steady stream of homeless.

Our Lady of Tepeyac

Providing each of about 215 families in Little Village with one grocery bag of food per visit, which helps a total of 2,500 people per month.

WHO WE SERVE

Supporting Local Need

Clergy at Our Lady of Perpetual Help see to it that a daily stream of local people are served through parishioner donations to our own Parish pantry shelves.

Needy Family Fund

Area families facing financial crisis who come to the attention of Parish clergy are given prompt attention through Sr. Paulanne’s Needy Family Fund. Write Sr. Paulanne to contribute to this fund at 1775 Grove St., Glenview, IL 60025. 

Project Hope -
Catholic Charities New Hope Apartment Program

OLPH partners with Catholic Charities to reduce homelessness by helping families transition out of homelessness and into self-sufficiency, one family at a time.

OLPH Be-Friend a Family Program

The Be-Friend a family program assists over 200 families with food assistance at Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas, when we also donate gifts.

Marquard Center - A Franciscan Outreach

Marquard Center, a Franciscan Outreach soup kitchen, serves approximately 200 people each day, a growing number of them women and children.

Catholic Charities/Des Plaines Soup Kitchen Thursday Night Suppers

1717 Rand Road, Des Plaines
OLPH serves periodic Thursdays at this Catholic Charities soup kitchen in Des Plaines. We look for volunteers to serve the meals and donations to offset costs. Contact OLPH parishioner Kathy at 847.832.1649 for more information.

Night Ministry, Beat The Heat/Open Door

Night Ministry provides outreach to inner city homeless, ministering on the streets with food, medical assistance, counseling, clothing, blankets, and more. Contact OLPH parishioner Sandy at 847.724.3806 to volunteer.

Greater Chicago Food Depository

The OLPH Sharing Parishes are enrolled in the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s distribution program, serving 600 food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. Contact parishioner Katie at 847.486.8530 to participate with our Parish.

St. Martin De Porres Shelter

St. Martin De Porres Shelter ministers to recovering substance abuse mothers and their children, providing shelter, counseling and appropriate training to ensure successful transition into independent living. The OLPH Youth Group and Parish eighth graders bring and serve dinner and engage the kids in fun activities. Contact OLPH parishioner Mike at 847.998.6575 for more information.

Catholic Charities’ St. Sylvester’s Emergency Shelter

St. Sylvester’s parish convent has been converted into a shelter for burned out or evicted families. Families are offered counseling and adjunct support while they work to secure housing and family stability. OLPH Women’s Club provides 15-20 large dinner casseroles each month for the 40 people in residence. Contact OLPH parishioner Paul at 847.998.6788 for more information.

Meal Ministry

OLPH volunteers cook emergency meals for area residents in times of bereavement, illness, or crisis. Contact OLPH parishioner Joanne at 847.729.2740 for more information.

International Outreach (Santiago, Chile)

Pope John Paul II encouraged twinning internationally in an effort to shore up the most needy of parishes. OLPH has a sharing relationship with a poor parish in Santiago, Chile, run by the Columban Missions who work to build strength, stability, and independence in a parish, and launch it once it is self-sustaining.
