“The future of the world and of the Church passes through the family.”
– Pope John Paul II, Familiaris Consortio
"The Domestic Church": this title for families was coined as part of our language of faith during Vatican Council II. It is meant to capture the foundational importance of the family in our Church’s life. Even more so than the parish, the family is the most basic unit where faith is fostered and handed on to generation after generation. It is with this understanding of the family that the OLPH Religious Education program offers a new option for the education of not only children, but whole families.
This whole family model is an opportunity for parents to be actively involved in the religious education of all their children as well as foster their own faith and spirituality. This family catechesis program is one of the two options you will have for the religious education of your child.
If you are interested in being a part of this program, or learning more about it, please contact Megan Hunter at the Religious Education Office at 847-998-5289.
