The OLPH community gathered to celebrate the Easter Vigil after nightfall on Holy Saturday, April 15.
Ways You Can Make this Lent Count
This year Lent begins on March 1 with Ash Wednesday and continues through April 9 when Holy Week begins.
During Lent we urge our parishioners to deepen their spiritual lives with practices of Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. Here are just a few ideas to make Lent count:
In addition to attending Mass each Sunday, try these practices.
- Pray the Stations of the Cross.
- Make the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
- Pray for all those who will become Catholic at the Easter Vigil this year.
Fasting, if done mindfully, can help make us aware of our need for God. Some Catholics choose to fast from a favorite food throughout the season. See Lenten Regulations for specific fasting information.
As demonstrated every day of the year by our generous parishioners, service (or Almsgiving) helps us put our faith in action. During Lent, the Sharing Ministry and other parish groups offer opportunities to grow in awareness of the needs of the poor.

Have a blessed Lenten season!
