Parishioners Marched for Peace

With St. Sabina Community, Protesting Gun Violence
A group of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish members joined a march to protest gun violence in solidarity with one of our Sharing Parishes in Chicago. St. Sabina Faith Community, Led by Fr. Michael Pfleger, held a three-hour Peace March on the evening of June 19, 2015. The community marches every Friday during the summer to protest gun violence in Chicago.
The group marched from the church east down 79th st. to Halsted, south to 83rd and up Racine back to the church. Names of those killed by gun violence in the city of Chicago since January, around 100 people, were read.
OLPH member Sandy McBreen says, “It’s great to support one of our Sharing Parishes who is feeling the violence from guns. This violence is a terrible reality of life on the south side of our city.”
