Music

Our Lady of Perpetual Help places great importance on music. We believe that a church music program includes music that helps worshippers become closer to God. It encourages the assembly to sing because they are excited by what they hear. It inspires people to participate in the music ministry, sharing their time and talent. It not only is inspiring, but also is like a family where each member can come for encouragement and support. Most of all, the program’s focus is on serving God.

Choirs and Ensembles

Now is a great time to join one of our music groups. All of our ensembles rehearse on Tuesday evenings in the music office. If interested, simply come to one of our rehearsals in the next few weeks:

The Adult Choir

• Who: all adults who wish to sing traditional choral music.
• When: Tuesdays from 8 - 9:30 p.m.
• Involvement: Sings at Saturday 5 p.m. and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m. upstairs Masses.

The Children’s Choir

• Who: singers, grades 1st - 4th and 5th - 7th.
• When: Tues., 5:45 - 6:30 p.m. (Interested R.E. students will be excused 15 minutes early in order to attend rehearsal)
• Involvement: sings at 9:30 a.m. upstairs Mass once a month and on holidays.

The Teen/Young Adult Choir & Ensemble

• Who: singers & skilled instrumentalists, teen to adult
• When: Tues., 6:45 - 7:45 p.m.
• Involvement: will sing once per month at the Sunday 6 p.m. Mass.

Cantors

Cantors are liturgical ministers who lead the assembly in song. Cantors teach music to the assembly, share in proclaiming the Word of God, and lead moments of worship through solo song.
