Becoming a Catholic: RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which people are formed in the Catholic way of life. The RCIA process is designed to facilitate each person's unique experience of God's love and call in their lives. The Church's response is to help guide those steps on the journey of faith, and to be aspects of the face of God to others. You will find in this process, and in this community at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a wonderful opportunity to appreciate and strengthen your own growth in faith.

Those baptized Catholics who have not received first Eucharist or religious instruction but are interested in being confirmed in the Church are invited to participate in the RCIA program offered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and directed by Fr. Marek Duran.

Christians baptized in other traditions who wish to find out more about the Catholic Church or convert to Catholicism are also invited to participate in the RCIA program. You can email Fr. Robeth Molina or call him at 847.729.1525.

Christian initiation (RCIA) begins each fall with a series of weekly sessions devoted to addressing and responding to your questions and concerns. Those interested in learning more about Catholicism meet with a small group of parishioners to reflect on both the weekly Scripture readings and various topics of faith. The process involves reflection and sharing, prayer, and celebration. Initiation normally takes place in the spring at the Easter Vigil.
