Youth Group Events

Sunday Mass for youth

Usually at 6:00 pm in the Francis Room

Visits to DePorres House

DePorres House is a shelter for women who are trying to make a good life for themselves and their children. We go there as often as possible to minister to both children and parents by feeding and playing with the children and offering companionship to the parents.

Shoe Boxes

We gather to assemble and wrap boxes containing sundries and food for homeless.

Be-Friend a Family

We "adopted" a single mom and her three children. We do all we can to bring them joy at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.

Support for alumnae/alumni in service

(i.e., Bolivia, Thailand).

Summer car washes

Supporting various charities.

YOUTH

OLPH Youth Group

The Our Lady of Perpetual Helps Youth Group aims to bring the young people of the Parish to a realization that our God loves them deeply. The center of the life of our youth group is the Eucharist. From the Eucharist, we branch out to the intellectual life, the spiritual life, the physical life, and the life of service.

Kairos Retreat for Youth

Kairos is a unique spiritual experience for high school juniors and seniors with effects that can last a lifetime. A biannual retreat, Kairos brings 50 young retreatants, 14 young leaders, three adult leaders, and the director together to listen to the stories of their peers and to reflect on their own lives and priorities. They are given opportunities to make appropriate adjustments and receive the powerful direction and support of their peer leaders and adult leaders.

Leaders experience six months of intensive training in leadership, and especially in listening. Training includes two weekends of preparation and weekly Sunday night sessions of two hours each.

The director keeps in touch with Kairos alumni/alumnae when they go to college and visits those who are within 3-4 hours travel distance.

An annual Scout Mass is held each February and coincides with a Pancake Breakfast in the Playdium. The annual Scout Service Project assists our Sharing Parishes with donations of items for the homeless.
