Career & Business Networking Group
The Our Lady of Perpetual Help Career and Business Networking Group was founded on the premise that personal contacts are one of the keys to launching a new career. Over the years, caring and giving members of our Parish have shared resources and contacts at some great places to work. The ministry has evolved over time to also assist those with careers-in-transition. We bring together three types of individuals whose status might complement and help each other:
- Those who are seeking employment changes (unemployed, under employed, returning to the workforce or seeking different employment).
- Those who seek to expand their business contacts.
- Those who are in a position to give back to the community through their sharing of business contacts, coaching expertise, or professional experience.
Over the last few years active members and leadership have changed, but the guiding principles have remained the same – attend meetings to seek help and share knowledge with others.
- Resumes and/or business cards are shared
- Conversation is lively, encouraging, warm and supportive
- Search resources are available
- Periodic Special Features
- Guest speakers share expertise
- Hiring managers present open opportunities
- Entrepreneurs feature their new product or service
- Consultants provide pro-bono assistance
Resources
- We are affiliated with a faith based electronic job board: www.workministry.com to help our members make additional contacts.
- We share resources with other Catholic parishes with similar ministries, most notably St. Mary of the Woods.
- We have partnered with The Career Resource Center in Lake Forest to empower members with careers-in-transition.
